This print is housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was featured in 1940 in Alain Locke’s relevatory book, The Negro in Art. Note how in this earlier rendition, the print is missing the devil shoveling coal. This was doubtless a detail that the congregation wished for the artist to include.
